Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in book horrify you?
It's not because the thought horrifies me to write in a book, but I have found if I want to take notes that post its work much better for me. I have especially found for my book club reads that it helps me find specific items I may be looking for much more quickly. If you see one of my books with post-its hanging out from almost every page, you know that I've been enjoying it.
Do you prefer series books or stand alone books?
Although I am reading a couple of series right now I think that I actually prefer stand alone books. I've just started listening to the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series on audio and that is very enjoyable. I've also been reading The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith with my book club. We have been reading one book from this series every year and we've found that although we have a couple of favorites within the series, that not all of them are going to be great. I guess I just don't want to find myself getting bogged down reading series when there are so many other wonderful books out there waiting to be read.

I always have to remember to pull by post-its out of library books before I bring them back! :-)

I actually keep a notebook for bookish notes. I write all my notes in it because post-its, which I love for work, bug me when they are in a book. I'm a clumsy girl and I end up knocking them out of there or my fingers get caught up in them and I end up with a paper cut.
Two good answers there :)
I love a good series, and at the other time I dread them
Great answers. I prefer stand alones. Always in look out for those!

I agree with you on marking the books. I don't do it either but I also remember having to do it perpetually in college and this is one side of my college years I don't want to interfere with my pleasure reading.
I use post its, too! Didn't think about that when doing my meme.
(And glad you at least tried my series! *grin*)

I would never write in a book! I keep a notebook with me while I read. I prefer stand alone books to series, but I make exception for certain authors :)
If I write notes it's always on a scrap of paper, never on the book.
I hear you about the series ... it is hard to stick to just one when there are so many other books out there. But if they only publish like once a year or every two years, then it is like a pleasant visit from an old friend. That is how I feel about Kinsey Millhone books by Sue Grafton.
I'm with you on the stand alones, though I've enjoyed some series in the past.
