Book Club Chatter

I'm so excited to bring you the first of hopefully a weekly event that I will be posting here.  I hope to cover all things book club with the questions that I will be asking to give everyone a chance to participate every week.  I think that all of our groups are special in their own ways and maybe we can help each other out once and a while by sharing one little tidbit a week.   Feel free to answer the following question in the comment section below, or post it on your own blog and leave the link below.

So here is my first question:  I have noticed that many groups have very creative names for there book clubs and I am wondering if your group has a name?  If so, is there a story behind the name?

Answer:  My book club is named Sweet Connections.  We thought 'connections' would be appropriate because we thought we would connect with books and each other on a different level, and of course 'sweet' comes from the fact that we planned on serving dessert at every meeting!

There is not a deadline as to when you need to post or answer this question, so please feel free to join in at your convenience.  I'm presently working on an idea for a button with another blogger since I am technologically challenged, but hopefully there will be a pretty one here for you soon.

The book club I belong to is online - we connect via Skype, hence our name - Wired and Bound.

I have two and both are not very creative:

The Valencia Library Book Club
The Tuesday Night Readers

One meets at the library, the other meets on Tuesdays. LOL. My group is sort of a no nonsense group and won't go for cutesy names.

Great topic, Jo! One of my bookclubs is called Hardcovers and Highballs - we always read Hardcovers (duh!) and meet in drinking establishments hence the Highballs!

Bookies...

I remember we really struggled to find a name that worked and all those years ago we came up with this.

More recently I read The Book Thief and the description of the Word Shakers in the book really spoke to me. That is the name of my online book club. The Word Shakers is a powerful story of words.

Come to think about it, ours doesn't have a name at all! Lemme go and talk about this to my club friends LOL!

I am not in a book club anymore, but you are right in that some of those names are just too cute. I am not that creative. Enjoy your club.

Our book club is called The Page Turners and I'm really hoping Toni from A Circle of Books will pop in and say where our name came from because honestly I don't remember. We've been together 6 years this year I think as an online group although several of the group have met many times.
