Book Club Chatter

Welcome to another week of Book Club Chatter where I hope to discuss all things book club on a weekly basis. I thought this would  be a fun way for each of us to share one little tidbit every week.   First of all I want to thank the most wonderful Katrina from Bloody Bad for creating this beautiful button for me!  I think it's just wonderful and fits in perfectly on Jo-Jo Loves to Read!

So here is my question for you all this week:

When finalizing your book club selections is your group influenced as to whether the book is available in hardcover or paperback?  If so, please explain.

My answer:
It makes a difference to my group in that we will delay reading a specific book until it is available in paperback.  Many of us enjoy purchasing our book club selections so the more money we can save, the better!

There is not a deadline as to when you need to post or answer this question, so please feel free to join in at your convenience.  You can either leave your answer in the comments below or post your answer on your blog and leave the link below.

We haven't been meeting that long, so this hasn't been an issue yet. Some members buy the book and others use the library, though.

great button!

I am in two bookclubs - in one, they always choose hardcovers. In the other, the leader puts forward a selection of both hard and softcovers forward for voting by the club members

We have a set of guidelines and one of them is that the book must be a newer release and it must be in paperback. Hard cover becomes pricey and if the book is not enjoyable - that price hurts even more. :)

We choose newer releases too as our group has 18 members and we have to be able to find enough books for all of us. :)

We just met last night to determine our books for the year so I can answer this. Since we use the Library's meeting room, we only pick books that are readily available from the library. This use to mean that we had to wait for them to be released as a PB but not anymore. Libraries seem to have plenty of hardback copies a month or two after release.

I love that button!! My book club doesn't usually care if it's hardback or paperback. Usually the issue is length of the book as we want to make sure that we can all read it in time for the next meeting.
