Book Club Chatter

Welcome to another week of Book Club Chatter where I hope to discuss all things book club on a weekly basis. I thought this would  be a fun way for each of us to share one little tidbit every week.

So here is my question for you this week:

Question:  Does your group that meets in person usually meet at one of your members homes or a public location?  And how do you decide where you are meeting?

My Answer:  When we first started meeting we always met at the same member's home.  After a year or so another gal offered her home for us to meet, so we started to alternate between them.  Just this year we decided that whoever is hosting should have the opportunity to host in her home, if that is what she wishes.  I think a few of our ladies are still a bit uncomfortable when it comes to hosting a meeting in their home so they will usually host the meeting from one of the members homes that lives in a pretty general location.

There is not a deadline as to when you need to post or answer this question, so please feel free to join in at your convenience. You can either leave your answer in the comments below or post your answer on your blog and leave the link below.

We rotate depending on how picks the book and runs the discussion! We did meet in a coffeehouse once when an author came to visit!

That's nice your group chooses to meet at someone's home. I see so many at restaurants and coffee shops.

I enjoy this feature of yours - though it does make me jealous. All of my book groups are online :0(

I'm envious too as I don't belong to a club. I like the idea of meeting in homes too seems more cozy.

Hey Jo-Jo! What a great idea! Our book club is a family one, with my sisters, Mom and neice. We have only officially met once after reading Three Day Road, and it was at my house. We debated wether to have it at a restaurant or not and we felt that at someone's house we would not feel rushed and get interrupted as much.

Both of my book clubs meet in a public place - either a restaurant or a lounge. Living in NYC, it can be hard to accomodate large groups in people's small apartments!

Book club meetings have been at my house. But if the group ever grows beyond 5, we'll have to make other arrangements...lol

We go between homes and public places. Each month a different member is able to choose where we meet next. We have that all scheduled at the beginning of each year. Some of us have out home as an option and then there are a list of restaurant choices too.

We always used to meet at Panera Bread, but now we often have someone who wants to host it in their home. Also we go to restaurants occasionally for special events (like New Years). I would love to host it, but we would keep my kids awake late trying to listen in!
