In honor of Shanghai Girls being released today I wanted to bring your attention to the review that I posted last month of this book. I just love Lisa See's writing and always look forward to what surprises she has in store for me on the printed page. You can find out more about Lisa See and the books she has written by going to her website.
I will always remember reading this book while my sister was in the hospice center, and that may even be why I loved it so much. These sisters were willing to give up so much for each other that the story just touched me so deeply.
Even though I enjoyed this book, I think that Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is still my favorite. How about you--Have you read Shanghai Girls or any other Lisa See book for that matter? If so, what was your favorite so far?

Hi Jo-Jo, actually I think I liked Shanghai Girls better than Snow Flower. Another very good Asian writer is Gail Tsukiyama. I just love her books! Street of a Thousand Blossoms is a superb read. (imho) Have a good week.
I was about a quarter of the way into this one and then set it down to pick up another book and have yet to go back to it. I promise to go back to it as it has been patiently waiting for my attention.
I haven't read Shanghai Girls yet but i do have it in my personal library. However, I wasn't crazy about The Snow Flower because See's writing is really awesome and the book felt too short and the other characters not elaborated upon enough. I hope I'll like this one better.
I haven't read this, but I want to...
I haven't read it yet... But I did read Snow Flower and it was such a powerful and amazing book. I look forward to this one. You have a very special memory attached to this one.
Kaye: Thanks for the recommendation, I appreciate that as that book has caught my attention!
Ti: I will definitely be looking forward to what you think of this one.
Lilly: I hope you do enjoy it better, and I can kind of see where you are coming from about Snow Flower. I really loved that book but I also wish it was longer.
Missy: You will have to let me know what you think of it if you do read it!
Toni: Snow Flower sure was powerful, although it wasn't very long as Lilly indicated, it didn't seem like it needed to be for some reason. I loved it! Probably one of my favorites in the last couple of years.
You got something waiting on my blog :)
