Wondrous Words Wednesday-July 15

Bermudaonion asks you to share new words that you have learned during your reading adventures in the last week. Feel free to join in the fun!

Here is a new word that I learned this week while reading Twilight by Stephanie Meyer:

Misogynistic:(mĭ-sŏj'ə-nĭs'tĭk) Of or characterized by a hatred of women.

Here is how misogynistic was used on page 143:
"Whether Shakespeare's treatment of the female characters is misogynistic."

So did you learn any new words this week?

Wow, I wonder if there's a word for a hatred of men. Thanks for participating today!

To answer Kathy's question, there's misanthropy for hatred of people, and it turns out that misandry means hatred of men or boys (although I had to look that one up on Wikipedia, as I've never heard it before!).
