My favorite Motherly character in a book would have to be Marmee. She was so loving and supportive of her girls and was such a strong female character! She reminded me so much of my own Mother that she instantly became my favorite!

It's hard to find a favorite motherly character in a book! I did like Auntie Mame in Patrick Dennis's book- so full of life and trying to get her nephew to enjoy the world. Also Charlotte in Charlotte's Web - so sympathetic and generous with her friendship.

This is a great giveaway! Pls count me in.

A "motherly" character, though not an effective one, just the opposite - Mrs. Danvers in the novel, Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier.

It's hard to think of my favorite motherly figure in fiction. Maybe the housekeeper in the Nancy Drew stories, I can't remember her name though.

Thanks for entering me.

My favorite motherly character is "Ma" Caroline Ingalls from the Little House on the Prairie series. Ma was a great provider for her family and had a deep and enduring love for her children and for Pa. A close second for me would be Marilla from the Anne of Green Gables series. There are so many good mothers in literature! One of my favorite bad mothers is Undine from Custom of the Country by Edith Wharton. That book made me cry and want to strangle the main character at the same time. I'm currently rereading My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult which has a great portrayel of a conflicted mother.

This may sound crazy, but I always liked Ramona's mom in the Beverly Clearly books. That little girl was crazy. I always loved those books and laugh at the thought of the mom putting pumpkin in all their food because their cat ate part of the jackolantern they were carving.

Great giveaway!
