Teaser Tuesday-Aug. 18

Check out Teaser Tuesdays from Should Be Reading. TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:

Grab your current read.

Let the book fall open to a random page.

Share with us two “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.

You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!

This week my teaser is from The Last Bridge by Teri Coyne:

It never occurred to her that she could have brought something else, like a ham or a salad; she knew that Bundt was the tradition and she worked within her limits. Her chocolate mousse cake became so popular that we suspected some people looked forward to the next death just so they could have a piece.

The comfort of food after funerals -- the book sounds interesting.

I am trying so hard not to have any of the cake in the break room here at work and then I come and read this teaser! I am hungry and want cake. Darn diet.

This is the honest truth: my sister said something like that to me not a few months ago. She was talking about a lady at her church that makes this fantastic dish but only for funerals. They look forward to funerals for this dish. (And she will not share the recipe so it can't even be served at her funeral.)

What a great teaser. I have this book (unread). Can't wait to read your review.

That reminds me of a lot of small-town suppers! At least it wasn't jello salad.

My teaser is here.

OMG - that's too funny! I can totally identify with producing the 'traditional,' and the bit about looking forward to death just for cake made me smile guiltily. Great teaser!

You can check out mine here.

Everyone: I think it's so funny that you all related to this teaser! It made me think of my book club actually, because now when we have potlucks, there really is no element of surprise. Certain ladies are expected to bring certain things, or they can't come in the door! lol
On another note, this really was a serious book, so I wanted to find a light teaser from it. Watch for my review soon...I loved it!

Hey Everybody: There wasn't a recipe for the chocolate mousse cake but it sure sounds good. I don't think I've ever tasted one so I think I'm going to be in search of a recipe for this one. I'll let you know if I find one!
