This week my teaser is from The Kingmaking by Helen Hollick:
She would not disgrace her father before such a man by crying out, so she looked at Uthr and kept the pain from showing in her face and voice. When it was finished, her shoulders burnt like fire and her wrist throbbed sporadic drumbeats of pain, but the cry was jammed firm in her chest.
